On September 21st, Cohstra’s design and production team working for the forthcoming MoMA exhibition, Uneven Growth: Tactical Urbanism for Expanding Megacities, took the streets to film the last footage of the Uneven Growth documentary. The documentary aims to reveal the housing crisis in New York City, as well as policies and agents increasing the city’s social divide. It will be screened as part of the exhibition, which will open in November 2014.
Cohstra members joined the Housing and Displacement Contingent organized by the Right to the City Alliance in collaboration with Braden Crooks, an urban activist and former student of the Design and Urban Ecologies Graduate Program, The New School. This cohort of housing activists and organizers marched at the front representing the Frontlines of Crisis, Forefront of Change. Indigenous peoples took center stage, as well as New Yorkers affected by Super Storm Sandy. The Housing and Displacement Contingent marched after these groups. It was a powerful march with a diversity of voices raising, just like the tides. Please take a look to Right to the City’s collection of pictures, here.
