COMMUNAL CITY / CIUDAD COMUNAL

VALENCIA, VENEZUELA

Communal City / Ciudad Comunal (2009) is a research study for Valencia, Venezuela, based on a theory of unitary urbanism. The theory proposes an understanding and conception of space that evolves in a relational totality, in a unitary urbanism capable of including, in the space of the neighborhood, conditions of difference. Cohabitation Strategies conceives this space as an urban assemblage of the dynamic conditions and processes which determine the relational actions of everyday life in an ecological totality of an urban unity. The working methodology for this research emerges from the critical and practical involvement of institutions, inhabitants and all the individual behaviors that construct contemporary urban life, and to achieve this, the cooperative seeks to call for the production of urban knowledge. Cohstra collaborators: Emiliano Gandolfi, Thomas Purcell and Miguel Robles Duran.
